<span style="text-align: justify;">This is the cinematic trailer for "Age of Empires Online" in it's full splendour! I did the character design as well as some storyboards and I'm very pleased with the final result. It was produced at Axis Animation in Glasgow. Watch out for the "Priestess of Ra" at the very end. Damn, I wish they had given her more screen time :)</span>Oliver Kurthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01969785860872064323noreply@blogger.com13tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8698900385750163421.post-6176390731075569852011-07-26T00:01:00.000+02:002011-07-26T00:01:44.118+02:00Heinrich Kley!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-e4K0fwb5WL4/Ti3nGeNOV9I/AAAAAAAACK0/xrCE6p19h2g/s1600/Heinrich_Kley_in_Hannover.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="287" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-e4K0fwb5WL4/Ti3nGeNOV9I/AAAAAAAACK0/xrCE6p19h2g/s400/Heinrich_Kley_in_Hannover.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div style="text-align: justify;">There is a gorgeous Heinrich Kley exhibition at the Wilhelm-Busch-Museum in Hannover until August 21. Maybe someone remembers the dreamy gnome with the wishlist I posted some time ago. With christmas at hand I thought it's the right time to post some more of the bunch. I suppose they are quite busy at this time of the year.</p>Oliver Kurthhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01969785860872064323noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8698900385750163421.post-80793866724834368042009-12-08T23:20:00.002+01:002010-02-10T17:57:09.714+01:00Crazy Bird!<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__z7Bdwu2_EA/Sx77j10FcoI/AAAAAAAACAY/ZNLaXibKpbU/s1600-h/2009-12-08_OKurth_Crazy_Bird.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413040395305448066" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__z7Bdwu2_EA/Sx77j10FcoI/AAAAAAAACAY/ZNLaXibKpbU/s400/2009-12-08_OKurth_Crazy_Bird.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 400px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 290px;" /></a><br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">It's hard to deny, autumn is here. Or to be more precisely the windy, unpleasant and undeniably wet part of autumn. And the fact that it's already dark at tea-time doesn't make it any better. Well, at least you can't see the bad weather ...<br />
<br />
This picture is a little bit older. (I did it in 2007 when a storm called <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kyrill_%28storm%29"><i>Kyrill</i></a> rolled over Germany and left quite some devastation behind!) I though it would make a good editorial illustration or maybe a book cover. So I added the nonsense typo.<br />

The chap's name is Polyphemus by the way.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__z7Bdwu2_EA/Ss0n49f2usI/AAAAAAAAB9M/zmhHLuGgvSM/s1600-h/2009-10-08_OKurth_Cyclops_Detail_Paint.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390008188566682306" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__z7Bdwu2_EA/Ss0n49f2usI/AAAAAAAAB9M/zmhHLuGgvSM/s400/2009-10-08_OKurth_Cyclops_Detail_Paint.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 234px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 400px;" /></a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/__z7Bdwu2_EA/Ss0oVfLqirI/AAAAAAAAB9U/xQbm4jiNFcw/s1600-h/2009-10-08_OKurth_Cyclops_Ink_Hairy.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390008678645140146" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/__z7Bdwu2_EA/Ss0oVfLqirI/AAAAAAAAB9U/xQbm4jiNFcw/s320/2009-10-08_OKurth_Cyclops_Ink_Hairy.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 320px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 250px;" /></a>This is the first inked Version. I wasn't quite satisfied with it and I didn't think adding all the chest and arm hair would make it easier to colourize it. So I inked it again and decided to skip the hairy stuff and add it later digitally.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__z7Bdwu2_EA/Ss0ofEDpXLI/AAAAAAAAB9c/dQpPHjLqH-U/s1600-h/2009-10-08_OKurth_Cyclops_Ink_New.jpg" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5390008843162442930" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__z7Bdwu2_EA/Ss0ofEDpXLI/AAAAAAAAB9c/dQpPHjLqH-U/s320/2009-10-08_OKurth_Cyclops_Ink_New.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; display: block; height: 320px; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; width: 250px;" /></a>This is the second clean-shaven try. For anyone who's interested, if I'm not sure about the inking, I usually scan the sketch and print it out in very light blue so I can do several versions. I like that much more than using a light table.<br />
