3rd Royal Styrian Drawing Jam!

Thursday I will fly to Austria to visit the magnificent Florian Satzinger in the beautiful city of Graz. And on Friday I will participate in the 3rd Royal Styrian Drawing Jam at the Forum Stadtpark in Graz. I'm really looking forward to that! I think it's going o be fun. Join us there for a nice evening. See you there!

Last time I think they had the topic friendly aliens at the jam. So the picture above is somehow related. Though you might say he looks rather lunatic he's mostly harmless! Anyway this is my contribution for this week for our group blog the Bilderwumme.

Alien Slug!

We are at the moment finishing out 3rd cg movie. It's the sequel to Urmel aus dem Eis (aka Impy's Island). I'm doing compositing, effects and some graphic design at the moment. So not much drawing at all. The good thing is I'll start with new designs very soon ...

This is an older drawing I coloured today. An alien slug called Sluggy.

Pencilly Alien!

Florian Satzinger was so kind to dedicate his latest picture to Mr.Thies an me. Thanks a lot again, Sir! Well it seems we share the same love for such diverse themes as aliens, gorillas and motorised flying machines.

To return the favour I did this alien. This time I humbly tried a pencilly approach, which of course is the trademark style of Mr.Satzinger himself. OK, the gadgets are missing, but I tried my very best. Anyway it was the only scribble I did ...

So this one is for you Florian!

Alien Disco!

A few post below you find a little alien I did last year. I always wanted to some more in that vein. But somehow it got lost on the too long to-do list. Last weekend I gave it another try. In the end I came up with a whole bunch of little aliens, extra-terrestrial plants and space machines. Overall rather cartoony in shape and style. Had much fun doing them.

So here is the first trigger-happy one on an iluminous disco catwalk.

Alien Flying Machine!

I did this one last year for the Bilderwumme. But this time I added some clouds. That's the extra special something. I still have some more sketches of flying monstrosities I'll maybe share in the future.
