Harvey!

A couple of weeks ago I watched Harvey. You know, that old James Stewart movie from the 50s. I hadn't seen it in ages and could barley remember anything, but I still like it a lot. The main character's best friend is an invisible 6 foot 8 inch rabbit named Harvey. You actually never see the rabbit - but it's there! Deeply inspired I spent the rest of the evening drawing rabbits. And the evening after that too!

This is one of the efforts.

I've got the Flu!

I've got the flu. That's boring. But the fates have been at least partially merciful with me. Yesterday I borrowed Shogun on DVD from the city libraray. You know, the mini-series from the 80s starring Richard Chamberlain and Toshiro Mifune. Television at its finest. Haven't seen it in ages. Makes being ill much less boring. Domo arigato gozaimasu!

Oh, I almost forgot. I did this picture for a pitch. Quite different in style. Guess what the theme was!

Leprechaun Bureaucracy!

He steals your mail at night. His oversized head is filled with mischievous thoughts. And he will put the spell of bureaucracy on you when you need it the least. Nasty litle creep.

Miscellaneous Stuff!

These are some pictures I recently did for the Bilderwumme.

An extremely happy walking guy. Done straight with the Art Pen.

An old man in blue.

A couple of ape scibbles I did for a project last year.

Batman - The Dark Knight!

Again another unusual piece for me. To be honest I've never been much into the superhero business at all. I grew up with Asterix, Tintin and Spirou. But Batman is quite cool. So here is my humble version of the Dark Knight.

CLICK ON THE PICTURE TO TURN ON THE LIGHT AND TO REVEAL A LITTLE BIT OF HIS TRUE IDENTITY!

Oh boy, I guess nobody will read the text and click on the picture ...

Little Punky!

And now for something completely different ...

I have to admit this is a quite unusual piece for me. Well, it was just a spontaneous scribble. But somehow I like this anarchic little fellow. So here it is.

An ordinary guy. Done with an ordinary pencil.

Alien Slug!

We are at the moment finishing out 3rd cg movie. It's the sequel to Urmel aus dem Eis (aka Impy's Island). I'm doing compositing, effects and some graphic design at the moment. So not much drawing at all. The good thing is I'll start with new designs very soon ...

This is an older drawing I coloured today. An alien slug called Sluggy.

Passepartout!

This a character design I did for fun. It's Jean Passepartout from Jules Verne's Around the World in 80 Days. He is described as a likeable fellow with "a good round head, such as one likes to see on the shoulders of a friend". And he is as much passionate and fun as his new master Phileas Fogg is not. A true Parisian from Paris.

So imagine a happy Passepartout standing inside the house at No.7, Saville Row, Burlington Gardens just after he heard Mr. Fogg say: "Now from this moment, twenty-nine minutes after eleven, a.m., this Wednesday, 2nd October, you are in my service."

Gone nuts?!

Last week you liked the thick brush outlines. So this week I drew some fine lines. Well, always do the unexpected ... I did the scribble for this one after reading some ancient MAD-magazines. For me the best loo-reading available on the market!

At first I suggested that he went mad about some stock exchange stuff. OK, I admit that's boring. Then Thies came up with the idea that he might be watching the ladies at the aerobic course. Much better. Well, but maybe Jensemann is right and a female colleague just dropped a pencil ...

I'm open for further suggestions.

Bratapfel & Dragon!

Have you ever asked yourself what dragons eat except for brave knights in shining armour? Well, they like roasted apples a lot. But maybe it's just the dessert ...

A dragon enjoying a Bratapfel he roasted all by himself.

PS: Thanks to Lars for bringing up the question!

Gimme an Ah!

Because the last weeks have been heavy on bears here's something different for a change. A Monster with a big mouth.

Homie Bears N°5: Don't Hassel The Hoff!

Two more. Next time I'll post something different ...

Homie Bear N°4: Mandy, the Sporty Bear!

This is Mandy. She loves aerobics, bling jewellery and disco music. And she's the much requested first girl in the "Home Bears"- series.

People have been asking if I'm going through a sort of bear-phase at the moment. Well, I just felt like doing a series would be a nice thing instead of just putting out unrelated sketches.

PS: Jörn expressed that he would like to see her in lingerie. At first I though he might be a pervert, but maybe a bear-pin-up could be a good idea ...

This is the brown version I posted initially.

And finally the scribble. Done with a blue colerase and a pencil.

Homie Bear N°3: Hot Rod Roddy!

And here's one for the ladies: Hot Rod Roddy.

UPDATED: I enhanced this one a little bit.
See if you can spot the difference!

Homie Bear N°2: The Guv'nor!

This is a second one from the "Homie Bears"-series. They call him the Guv'nor. You can find the scribble in the post below.

The Homie Bears!

Last week I felt like drawing some bears. I haven't drawn a lot of bears in my life so far. OK, for our current movie I had to design a panda bear, but that's not a real bear, is it? So out the blue came the idea for the Homie Bears. So here is the first one. Little Ernie, a professional slacker.

I also did a scribble for a logo. I enhanced it a little to make it look like a logo from an old cartoon. Imagine it with some nice wacky theme music.

And this is a sheet of scribbles with another Homie Bear character.

Pencilly Alien!

Florian Satzinger was so kind to dedicate his latest picture to Mr.Thies an me. Thanks a lot again, Sir! Well it seems we share the same love for such diverse themes as aliens, gorillas and motorised flying machines.

To return the favour I did this alien. This time I humbly tried a pencilly approach, which of course is the trademark style of Mr.Satzinger himself. OK, the gadgets are missing, but I tried my very best. Anyway it was the only scribble I did ...

So this one is for you Florian!

Blue Animal!

Like the post before this little fellow was also an accidental tiny scribble at the bottom of of a sheet. But he seemed to be in such a good temper that I couldn't leave him there.

But don't ask me what species he is. I don't have a clue. And the title is a mystery as well ...

Little Wanda!

This was actually just a small pencil scribble in the corner of a page of doodles. Well, somehow I liked this little girl. And here she is! As always I tried a lot of different colour versions. Here are four of them. Choose your favourite!

Especially on the first one she looks a little bit like a mermaid, doesn't she? Maybe I should add a flipper.
